President and Founder Manitou Boatworks & Engineering, LLC Marc Nugent earned a Bachelors of Science in Engineering from the Naval Architecture Marine Engineering Department at the University of Michigan. Currently, he is a member of Society of Marine Surveyors, American Boat and Yacht Council, and National Marine Manufactures Association. He currently holds a USCG 50 Gross Ton Captain's License. Nugent started working in the marine industry in 1993 while attending college. As Proprietor and Founder of Manitou Boatworks & Engineering he specializes in Marine Surveying and Consulting across the Midwest. Entering the marine industry as a certified US Sailing Association instructor for Traverse Area Community Sailing and establishing a position on the University of Michigan Sailing Team. One of his most rewarding experiences has been performing testing and research for the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Hydrodynamic Laboratory. Following his position as a Marine Engineer and Project Manager, in Sarasota, Florida, he moved back to Northern Michigan. While an apprentice with a custom wooden boat builder he considered the idea of opening his own consulting company. When the opportunity presented itself he relocated back to his hometown, Traverse City, MI, to establish Manitou Boatworks & Engineering.Current Associations;
